EMC Named to S&P 500 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for Fifth Year
Technology company earns spot on index for transparent climate change disclosure; Index provides evaluation tool for institutional investors and other stakeholders through climate change data analysis
EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) announced today it has been named to the 2011 S&P 500 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). EMC was named to the index for the fifth consecutive year for thorough and transparent climate change disclosure. The CDP represents 551 institutional investors with $71 trillion in assets under management. EMC was also recently named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).

The CDP's Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index, announced on September 19, 2011, is a key component of CDP's annual S&P 500 Report. The report highlights the constituent companies within the S&P 500 Index that display the most professional approach to corporate governance in respect of climate change disclosure practices.
The index, compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP on behalf of CDP, provides an evaluation tool for institutional investors and other stakeholders. In 2011 it comprises 55 companies from the S&P 500 Index based on analysis of the responses to CDP's questionnaire which focused on greenhouse gas emissions, emissions reduction targets and risks and opportunities associated with climate change.
